Duke of Edinburgh Award

Leigh Youth Hub Delivers Duke of Edinburgh Award in Leigh!

Any young person can do their Duke of Edinburgh Award, regardless of their ability, gender, background or location. Achieving an Award isn’t a competition or about becoming first, it’s all about setting personal challenges and pushing your boundaries. We currently offer Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award and we are also offering the Silver Award for those who have completed their Bronze. (To enrol on this qualification you need to be in Year 9)

What does the Bronze D of E Award Involve?

D of E Bronze Award involves helping the community and environment, becoming fitter, developing new skills, planning, training for and completing an expedition. Through enrolling on a D of E programme young people have the opportunity to have fun, make new friends, improve their self-esteem and build confidence. They also gain essential skills and attributes for work and life such as resilience, problem-solving, team-working and communication. Spaces are limited, there is a cost to undergoing the award and young people will be expected to meet at least once a month for approximately 7 months.

Karen Campbell, the Duke of Edinburgh Leader for Leigh youth hub said, “Duke of Edinburgh is an amazing scheme where we get to see Young People grow, challenge themselves and discover new adventures”.  To secure your space or to find out more, please email our youth team on: [email protected]

If you are looking to challenge yourself and push your creative abilities to gain an additional qualification, why not try our Creative Arts Award Programme?
