Leigh Youth Hub Receives Outstanding Youth Inspector Rating

Leigh Youth Hub Team Celebrates Outstanding Youth Inspector Rating

Leigh Youth Hub is proud to announce that it has achieved an outstanding youth inspector rating of 4.9 out of 5 in its latest youth led inspection.

This inspection marks a significant improvement from its previous score of 4.4. This achievement reflects the hub’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality young person centred services in Leigh.

7 Key Areas Inspected Confirming High-Quality Youth Provision:

In December, Leigh Youth Hub were inspected on 7 key areas, which included: accessibility and support, youth participation, environment, confidentiality and consent, staff training and awareness, marketing and digital support and health offer.

The exceptional score demonstrates the hub’s dedication to creating an inclusive and empowering space for young people, which is at the heart of their values. By prioritizing accessibility, participation and wellbeing, Leigh Youth Hub continues to set the standard for young person centred services in the borough.

The inspection report praised the hub for creating a safe and inclusive space where young people feel valued and supported. Inspectors noted that our team consistently go above and beyond to provide exceptional service, a commitment reinforced by the Youth Steering Group, which ensures young people’s voices shape the hub’s future.

Young People at the Heart of Every Decision:

Examples of the team listening to youth voices and implementing change to reflect their feedback includes the newly introduced Creative Arts Award, giving young people creative freedom in a partially guided and self led programme to complete an arts project towards either a Bronze or Silver Award. Another example was the ever-popular MUGA Fridays in conjunction with Leigh Sports Hub, giving the young people a chance to develop their football skills. Given that Leigh Youth Hub is situated on the Leigh Sports Village site, this was very important to young people.

Safety, Support and Inclusion:

Highlights of the report also included, that it was evident the youth hub had a fantastic working relationship with the young people. Most of which, felt they could approach staff and share their thoughts with them. The Hub offers many varied spaces for the needs of young people, including a sensory room with brilliant technology features. This shows the commitment to accommodating complex needs alongside producing a wide variety of opportunities, majority of which are free of charge. The recognition of 4.9 out of 5, reinforces the care and support the team show through their everyday activities.

Karen Campbell, the Senior Youth and Community Worker at Leigh Youth Hub said, “Being rated so highly by young people for a service designed for young people by young people is a massive achievement! This won’t mean we will stand still; we will still strive for the best for our young people and develop and change as their needs do.”
