Investing in Our Community

Leigh Youth Hub is proud to announce the sponsorship of Mia Woods, a standout player from Atherton Laburnum Rovers Ladies FC for the 2025/26 season.

Atherton Laburnum Rovers Football Club is based just 15 minutes from the Leigh Sports Village. Since the formation of their Women’s team in 2019, they’ve rapidly climbed the ranks and now compete in Tier 6 of the North West Women’s Regional Central Division.

Our sponsored player, Mia, is a 21-year-old Left Midfielder with 11 years of football experience. Her Manager Jason Huyton, said, “Mia has been instrumental in the team’s promotions, showcasing not just her technical ability but her leadership and drive”.

Off the pitch, Mia is a proud mother to 3-year-old Isla and lives with an ADHD diagnosis, making her not only a talented athlete but also a powerful role model for resilience and determination. As a venue committed to inclusivity and empowering women in sport, this partnership reflects our values and deepens our connection with the local community.

Mia is not only a talented footballer, but a symbol of historical sporting excellence at the village. Her grandfather, John Woods, is commemorated with a statue at the entrance of Leigh Sports Village, celebrating his remarkable career with Leigh Centurions (now Leigh Leopards). Supporting Mia feels like continuing that legacy, built on pride and community spirit.

We wish Atherton Laburnum Rovers Ladies FC a successful and competitive season ahead and we look forward to seeing Mia and her teammates in action!
